Here’s an easy homemade hot cocoa recipe from our new 5 ingredient semi-homemade meals cookbook. This hot cocoa mix is made with coconut sugar, good quality cocoa, a touch of cinnamon, and some coconut milk powder to make it super creamy.

How To Make Hot Cocoa
This recipe for hot cocoa makes one serving and only take a few minutes to whip up. Just combine some grass-fed milk or non-dairy milk in a small pot with the cocoa powder, coconut sugar, coconut milk, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Warm the mixture and use a coffee frother to whip it well, if you have one. Most hot cocoa recipes calls for cane sugar, but coconut sugar is a far superior paleo sweetener and gives a nice caramel flavor to the drink.
Whats the difference Between Cocoa and Cacao?
Cocoa is the processed, or roasted, version of raw cocoa beans while cacao is never baked. While I like to use raw cacao in many recipes, I find that the stronger flavor flavor of roasted cocoa is better for making homemade hot cocoa.
