These homemade spice rubs are perfect for chicken and steak seasoning and will add lots of flavor with no additional fat or calories.

Ingredients

Italian chicken seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper

Caribbean chicken seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Coffee steak seasoning:

  • 1 ¼ tablespoons finely ground coffee
  • 1 tablespoon ancho chile powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. To make the Italian chicken seasoning spice rub combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Store in an air tight container for 3-6 months. Repeat this process for the two other chicken and steak seasoning rubs. Never add salt to the spice rubs, salt should be added separately to the meat when you season it.
