Juicy Salmon Burgers & Secret Sauce

Here's an easy recipe for homemade salmon burgers with a healthy take on secret sauce.



For the salmon burgers:

  • 2 pounds salmon skin removed & cut in 1-inch cubes, ask your fish monger to do this
  • 2 tablespoons full fat mayonnaise sugar free
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1.5 teaspoons Dijon or stone ground mustard
  • 1.5 teaspoons capers drained from liquid
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Few cracks of fresh pepper
  • 3 tablespoons green onion finely sliced
  • Avocado oil
  • Buns

For the secret sauce:

  • 1/3 cup full fat mayo no sugar added
  • 3 tablespoons keto ketchup no sugar added
  • 1 tablespoon dill relish no sugar added
  • ¾ teaspoon tabasco sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt & couple cracks of fresh pepper


  1. To make the salmon burgers, add all of the burger ingredients to a food processor and puree until the mixture is smooth, but a bit chunky. Let the salmon burger mixture chill in the fridge for 15 minutes
  2. Meanwhile, make the secret sauce by combining everything in a small bowl and whisking well. Check for seasoning and set aside.
  3. To cook the salmon burgers, preheat a large non-stick pan over medium heat with 2-3 teaspoons of oil. Add some salmon mixture to your hand, form a ball, and place in the pan. Carefully use your fingers to press it out to the shape of a burger. Working in two batches, cook the burgers for 5 minutes or until deep golden brown, flip and repeat. Remove salmon burgers and cook the second batch.
  4. Griddle the buns with some butter in a non-stick pan until golden and serve the burger with toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
