Chocolate Almond Milk
Homemade almond milk recipe along with a chocolate almond milk option.
Ingredients
For the almond milk:
- 1 cup of raw almonds
- 4 cups filtered water
For the chocolate milk:
- 4 dates pitted
- 2 tablespoons cocao not cocoa powder, this is raw & unprocessed
- 2 teaspoons reishi mushroom powder
- 2 teaspoons maca powder
- 2 tablespoons coconut butter
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
- Seeds from half a vanilla bean scraped out
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- pinch of salt pink salt is nice
Instructions
-
Soak the almonds in water for 24-48 hours. Strain almonds and add to the blender along with 4 cups of fresh water. Blend on high for 2 minutes and then pour the contents in a nut milk bag set in a bowl, or a strainer lined with a cheese cloth over a bowl. Squeeze all the milk out and save the leftover almond meal to make hummus, really yummo!

To make the chocolate milk, soak the pitted dates in hot water for 5 minutes so they soften. Add the almond milk, dates strained from the water, and the remaining ingredients to a blender. Blend on high until everything is well incorporated, about 1 minute. Enjoy or keep in the fridge for 3-4 days.

I’ve never heard of making hummus with leftover almond meal – where is the recipe for *that*?
JC, we’ve tried making it once, but I don’t have a recipe on the blog…. let me work on that!
If I wanted to make this vanilla flavored would I use everything but the cocoa?
Yup, that’s all you gotta do! Keep on cookin’!
