Rose and I made homemade hemp milk the other day and it was way better than anything from the store. Unlike almonds, you don;t really need to soak the omega-rich hemp hearts, just blend away with water.

Hemp milk is the best replacement for cow’s milk when it comes to toddlers.  The problem is that most store bought ones are loaded with gums and oils, along with natural flavors.

Once you try this easy homemade hemp milk recipe you will never buy store bought again.

How To Make Hemp Milk

All you need is hemp hearts, water, and a blender, it’s that easy. Ideally I would soak the hemp hearts in water for 15 minutes, or eve better overnight so they sprout. Rinse the hemp hearts and add to a blender with 4 cups of water.

The sweetener for this recipe comes from dates. Take the pit out of 5 medjool dates and soak them in just boiled water for 15 minutes to soften up. You can also use 3 tablespoons of maple syrup if you don’t have dates.

Blend everything with 3.5 tablespoons of coconut butter or coconut cream. This will make the texture rich and smooth. If you want a very silky texture, strain the hemp milk when it’s done.

Store hemp milk in fridge for 4-5 days, you can’t freeze it.
